DISSOLVABLE SAMPLES-AMELIA FAYE TILT

I have been experimenting with dissolvable fabric in my work. I thought it could be an interesting way to add multiple layers of texture to my work. These are a few photos of the process of making the samples and the final outcome in a finished piece of work:

Sample One:

I thought this was an interesting sample before I had put it into water to dissolve, I had added to many random layers and it became tangled in the water.

Sample Two:

This was a much more successful sample, as it dissolved nicely, however I think it is too thick, or robust looking.

I wanted to combine these samples with things I had been working on in my sketch book, I believe the samples work well with texture built up using the darning foot, but I’m not sure they translate well with my paper strips. I don’t think it’s something I want to take further despite loving the process. Maybe later on in the project I will find a way in using the technique in a more relevant way.
